Friday night at the ballpark for the start of a new series, the High Point Rockers visiting from North Carolina. On this night High Point took a 1-0 third-inning lead, in the bottom half Tristan English's three-run home run put the Stormers up by two. David Smith's RBI double n the fourth upped the lead to 4-1 but the Rockers chipped away and eventually pulled even at 4-4 in the eighth. Nick Lucky's one-out RBI double in the bottom half restored the Stormer lead, in the ninth Lenny Torres closed the door on the 5-4 win. Phil Diehl picked up his second decision of the week, this time in relief of Matt Swarmer. On Saturday night in game #2 the Rockers led 3-0 into the bottom of the fourth before Lucky went yard putting the Stormers on the board. High Point got that one back and carried a 4-1 lead into the seventh, the Stormers batted around and took a one-run lead. Joseph Carpenter's two-run single, a Jalen Battles sac fly and Corey Rosier's RBI hit made it 5-4 Stormers, a solo shot by English in the eighth wrapped up a 6-4 win, Richie Dell was the winner in relief of Noah Bremer with Phil Diehl recording the save. The series wrapped up with a rare Sunday 6:45 first pitch, for the fourth time since April I was on the mic for John since he had another commitment. On this night the Stormers drew first blood on Tristan English's RBI hit in the first, after the Rockers went up 2-1 in the second the Stormers tied it 2-2 on a High Point error. In the fourth the visitors were up 6-2, Jalen Battles' infield groundout scored a run to get the Stormers within three. High Point led it 7-3 in the seventh, for a second straight night the homeboys batted around and tied the game. RBI hits by Aaron Schunk and Nathan Martorella plus a two-run double by English did the damage but the undaunted Rockers pushed a run across in the eighth to go back up 8-7. In the bottom of the ninth the Stormers proved the old adage "it's not over until it's over", with two out and two men on David Smith doubled into the left-field corner for an incredible 9-8 walkoff win. Lenny Torres pitched the top of the ninth and won it in relief of Kyle Lazer. The win gives the Stormers a 6-0 sweep of the homestand (after dropping all six on the previous homestand), the club returns home for a six-gamer against Long Island on August 18, Take care, thanks for reading.
