Wednesday night on North Prince Street for game #2 with Staten Island. The Stormers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on Nick Lucky's two-run double and an RBI single from Joseph Carpenter, after the FerryHawks got one back in the second the Stormers added four in the bottom half. Base hits by newcomer Aaron Schunk and Corey Rosier were backed by a two-run Carpenter single making it 7-1. Melvin Mercedes' RBI groundout in the third and a fifth-inning RBI hit from Carlos Amaya put the Stormers ahead 9-1, the Hawks scored two cosmetic runs in the eighth bringing the final score to 9-3. Jason Bollman got the start and went five innings for the win. The short series ended on Thursday with another one-sided Stormer win, on this night the Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the second. RBI singles by David Smith and Dean Mihos put the Stormers ahead 2-1 in the bottom half, in the fourth Melvin Mercedes' two-run home run extended the lead to 4-1. In the fifth recent returnee Adam Hackenberg tripled home a run making it 5-1 (fun facts about Hackenberg: he is the brother of former NFL quarterback Christian Hackenberg and spent the '26 preseason with the Stormers before being signed back into affiliated baseball on the eve of the season opener). In the seventh the Stormers tore the game open, Nick Lucky's RBI single, an Aaron Schunk solo home run and Nathan Martorella's three-run shot over the picnic tents in right field made it 10-1. Staten Island again picked up two late runs but it was nowhere near enough, the final score was 10-3. Ethan Firovid came out of the bullpen for the spot start and went the first three innings, local product J.T. Weaver (from Manheim Township High School in Neffsville) pitched four innings of two-hit shutout ball for the win. Take care, thanks for reading.
