Saturday night hockey at the Arena, the Royals hosted the brand-new Trenton Ironhawks in the back end of a two-game exhibition set. New Jersey's capital city is back in the league for the first time since 2013, the original franchise entered in 1999 as the Titans and were later known as the Devils for a brief time. The Royals lost the first round in Jersey on Friday, on this night they drew even with a 4-3 win in overtime. Jeremy Michel, Liam Devlin and newcomer Hunter Strand scored in regulation, Austin Saint netted the GWG in OT. Yaniv Perets started and went all the way for the win, Keith Petruzzelli and Ian Shane split the duty in goal on Friday in New Jersey. The club starts the regular season with two games on the road, the official home opener is October 24 versus the Kalamazoo Wings. On Sunday we were scheduled for street hockey in Rothsville and by now you can probably guess what happened. On September 13 it rained, on the 20th it rained harder and on the 27th we had a legitimate nor'easter. On October 4 we actually got two games played while tiptoeing through the rain to get it accomplished, this time around we were done in by the remnants of a tropical depression in the Atlantic Ocean that was making its way up the Eastern Seaboard. The forecast for the 18th looks promising but then again every other Sunday has looked good until it actually got here, maybe we're finally due for some good fortune. Take care, thanks for reading.
