Monday evening at McCaskey for boys soccer Senior Night, the girls team had its turn on Wednesday. Both games ended unsatisfactorily, the boys played to a 2-2 tie (no overtime in soccer) and the girls were shut out 1-0. Had the follow-up on the CT scan on Thursday, right now everything looks good (I'll take their word for it) although they want me to have another in December. In the evening I was Up North at the Arena for the first time since May for our annual run-through. It's always more for the newer hires than for me but it's still good to be there if only to get back into harness. There will be a major change involving me for the new season, after twenty-four years at ice level between the penalty boxes I'll be working from up on suite level. Given my health it is felt that keeping off the ice entirely is the best way to go, that plus the fact that the chill at ice level got to me several times last season (which was never an issue before), there were times when I was literally shivering by the time the third period started. The penalty bench is at the foot of section 105, my new perch is one-third around the building at the top of section 113. Anthony Peters is back for his second year as head coach, his camp roster features several returnees including goaltenders Yaniv Perets, Ian Shane and Keith Petruzzelli, defensemen Miles Gendron, Jack Page and Artem Kulakov plus forwards Kyle Haskins, Liam Devlin, Jordan Frasca, Mikael Robidoux, Jeremy Michel, Connor McMenamin, Nolan Burke and Austin Saint. The boys play an exhibition game at home on Saturday the 10th, the home opener is on the 24th. Take care, thanks for reading.
