June 27-29

A relatively slow Friday with no baseball on the docket, on Saturday Jenny, her mother and I were at (of all things) a baby shower. Jenny's older brother Frank has a son named Joe, he and his significant other (her name is April) were the beneficiaries. The event was held at a fire hall about five miles east of the city, there were about thirty people there. Jenny has another brother and a sister who live in New Jersey, they traveled together to be in attendance and it gave Helen a chance to spend some extended time with them. There was plenty of food, nobody went home hungry and by all accounts everybody had a good time. On Sunday morning in Rothsville it was hockey week #5 at Lions Park. The heat was nowhere as oppressive as the previous week but it was still warm, thirty-five players were in attendance. Warwick won over Hillside in the shootout, Ephrata won in regulation over Township. There are no games on July 6 for the holiday weekend and the 13th is also open since Don is on vacation and I will be otherwise involved. Right now the games on the 20th are the final regular season games, if I'm not home from Philadelphia we'll have no choice but to play them on the 27th. There is no question that this Spring season has been a mess, between starting five weeks late because we needed new netting and two additional dates being postponed it hasn't been the smoothest ride plus nobody figured on my personal situation. All we can do is go one step at a time in more ways than one. Take care, thanks for reading.
