April 4-5

Warm day on Monday, the daytime highs were in the 70s. Met with Don Tankesley at his place in the evening, we firmed up the format and divisional alignment for the Spring street hockey league. All the details are available at www.lancasterdekhockey.blogspot.com, we get started on Monday the 11th. It rained heavily overnight into Tuesday, in the morning I dropped off the league schedules with Don's wife Brenda (she works in the city not too far from where I live). After lunch it was south to Quarryville for Jenny, later in the afternoon it was north to Reading for the Royals' playoff opener with Cincinnati. This is a best-of-five Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series, game #1 started nicely for the Home Team as Matt Caruana and Chris Blight scored early on to give the Royals a 2-0 lead. For the first seventeen minutes the Royals were in total control, over the last forty-three it was all Cyclones with a vengeance as five unanswered goals sealed a 5-2 Cincinnati win. Matt Dalton was the goalie of record for the Royals as the club falls behind one game to none in the series, game #2 is on Wednesday night at the Sovereign Center. Needless to say it is a huge game, a Royals win would even up the series while the Cyclones could take a stranglehold on things with a win (although we all saw last year that a stranglehold can be broken under the right conditions). We'll see what happens on Wednesday. Take care, thanks for reading.
