April 29

Friday afternoon on the road north to Baseballtown as the ballclub hosted Portland in the opener of the weekend series. It was cloudy and somewhat chillier than it has been lately, there was a brief rain shower just as I was coming into Reading. At game time it was 58 degrees with a sharp 13MPH wind from left to right. The R-Phils won it 2-0, Cody Overbeck had a sacrifice fly RBI in the first inning and Tuffy Gosewisch hit a solo home run in the fifth. Josh Zeid was the winning pitcher as he, Mike Cisco and Phillippe Aumont combined on the shutout effort. We had better than 6100 in the park for Irish Heritage Night, it was billed as St. Patricks Day in April. The game was rapidly played, we started at 7:05 and ended at 9:15 (we'll take that any day). The series continues on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, on Monday the New Hampshire Fisher Cats visit for a four-game set. Take care, thanks for reading.
