April 11-12
The usual Monday morning errand run got the new week started, in the evening we were at Reservoir Park on East King Street for the opening night of the Spring street hockey league. We have thirteen teams playing in two divisions, on this night the East Division played. There are seven teams in the East, their schedule features three games each Monday and Wednesday plus a single game on Tuesdays allowing each team to play twice a week. The rumored precipitation never materialized until 8:00, we played a good part of the last game in a steady rain but got it all in. We started at 6:15 and were done by 9:00 despite the weather. Wally Burkholder was there to run the clock, Ron Mongeau and Robert Bloom were the referees. Robert is best known as "Bebop", he has played in the league for many years and has officiated before, he'll be working on a regular basis this season. Tuesday was a complete washout, the Monday rain hung around into the evening and forced postponement of the West Division's openers. The weather is expected to improve sometime on Wednesday, I guess we'll see how our luck runs. Take care, thanks for reading.
