December 5-6
There is no doubt that December is here, the weather has turned cold and windy. Not much happening on Sunday, just hockey and football on TV. At the mall on Monday morning for lunch, after supper I headed over to McCaskey. The boys' basketball team starts its season on the 11th, on this night they had a scrimmage against Wilson HS (our old friends from the district playoffs last February). Pre-season scrimmages are played under informal game conditions, it's just an opportunity to play against an opponent rather than an intersquad game. There was no official score kept but the boys played well, there was a lot to be encouraged about. JPM has all six underclassmen back from last year (Tyler Martin, Aaron Swinton, Diante Cherry, Calvert Gantz, Brian Newsome and Blaise Glover) plus some talented newcomers so there is reason for optimism. It all starts for real in Harrisburg on Saturday the 11th (and I'm absent because of Royals hockey), on Tuesday the 14th the team travels to Chester (I'm good for that). As I was walking to my car after the scrimmage ended I thought about how glad I was to have street hockey over for the year, it would have been brutal to be at the rink on a night like this. Take care, thanks for reading.
