October 28

The rain arrived overnight, by the time I left the house it was coming down in earnest. I stopped by the rink to see what it looked like, the winds out of the southeast had already turned it into a shipwreck. We had our usual lunch with Jenny and her mother in Quarryville, in the afternoon we headed north on 222 for the evening's hockey game at the Arena. I called Ron to advise him on the conditions at the rink, since the rain had continued all day postponing the games was the proverbial no-brainer. At the Arena the Elmira Jackals were the opponent for the second of their six regular-season appearances. The Royals rebounded nicely from the Saturday night loss with a five-goal victory of their own, the final score was 8-3. The club got two goals each from Adam Comrie and Mike Pereira, single tallies came off the sticks of Maxim Lamarche, Geoff Walker, Ian Watters and rookie Justin Crandall (from Minnesota-Duluth). Connor Knapp picked up the win to improve the Royals' record to 3-2, the club stays home to host the Orlando Solar Bears on Halloween night. The drive home was equal parts crazy and mundane, we drove through three downpours and other areas where we didn't see a drop. It's all supposed to be gone for Thursday so we should be good to go at the rink, it's all a matter of getting the rink cleaned up (and I'm not looking forward to it in the least). Take care, thanks for reading.
