June 29-30
Saturday lunch with Jenny in Quarryville, in the evening the Revs-Stormers series continued at the ballpark. After the lopsided Barnstormers win on Friday the visitors from York squared the series with a 4-0 decision. Revolution leadoff hitter Eric Patterson homered in the first inning, RBI hits from Andy Marte and Cody Johnson made it 3-0 in quick order. It stayed that way until the seventh when York added the final run on an infield groundout. Rev stating pitcher Chris Cody was in complete control working into the eighth for the victory, the Stormers' Brian Grening settled down nicely after the shaky start but suffered the loss. On Sunday the ladies were along for the 6:00 start, before the game Jenny got an autograph and photo with Stormers infielder Travis Denker. On this night York once again got out to a quick start, after two innings it was 6-1 Revs. The Barnstormers clawed back into it but could never get the big hit at the right time as York held on for a 7-6 win. Infielder Andres Perez had three RBI for the Revolution, infielder Wilson Batista had a two-run single, Andy Marte and outfielder Mark Teahan had run-scoring hits as well. Offensive highlights for the home team included Blake Gailen with a home run and two RBI, Travis Denker with a solo homer and newcomer Fernando Perez (in his Stormers debut) with an RBI single. The starting pitchers were of record, Rick Zagone for York and Will Savage for the Stormers. This game concluded the first half of the Atlantic League schedule, both teams posted winning records (York 36-34, Stormers 36-33 with one game canceled). After an off-day on Monday the second half starts on July 2nd. Take care, thanks for reading.
