June 22-23

Saturday morning in Quarryville with Jenny and her mother for lunch, after that we made our way south over the Mason-Dixon Line into Cecil County, Maryland. Our dear friend Mazi recently moved there from Pennsville, New Jersey, this was our first time visiting her since last August. She is living just outside of the town of North East, from Lancaster it's about a forty-mile drive. When we saw her in August she was baby-sitting a little girl named Mirandah, Mimi (her nickname) was in Mazi's charge on this day as well. In late afternoon our group of five departed for Wilmington and the evening's ballgame at Frawley Stadium. When Mazi lived around Lancaster she regularly joined us for games, her time outside of our area has afforded her few opportunities for that. From North East to Wilmington is about thirty miles, most of it on interstate highway. The game started at 6:00 and it was an entertaining one, the hometown Blue Rocks jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings and led 9-1 into the eighth. The visiting Salem Red Sox scored six runs to get within two but the Rocks replied with two more of their own and held on for an 11-7 win. We got Mazi and Mimi back to North East in good order, the night officially ended with my arrival in Lancaster shortly after 11:00. There is another Saturday in August that may work for another visit, we'll see how it works out. Sunday was the day of rest, with nothing going on and temperatures in the 80s there was no reason to leave the house. Take care, thanks for reading.
