September 26
The usual Monday morning errand run got the day started, in the evening we were at the rink for street hockey as the league's second week got underway. The East Division played on this night, we had our first suspensions of the season as one guy went over the penalty limit and two others got nailed for fighting. We were done by 9:00, when I got into my car I put the ballgame on the radio and heard it was tied in the eighth inning. I decided to drive over and see the rest of it in person. I only saw the last two-and-a-half innings but that was a game in itself, in this "win or go home" contest the Revs and the Barnstormers went into extra innings tied at 1-1. In the top of the tenth York broke it open with four runs to take a 5-1 lead, in the bottom half the BSers replied with three of their own but the Revs held on to win it 5-4. The victory gives the Revolution the series three games to two, as the 2010 Atlantic League champions they now get the opportunity to defend that title. The series starts on Wednesday with the first two games on Long Island, game #3 would be in York on Friday. For the Barnstormers the season is over but they had a fine year of their own as they qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2006. All told it was quite a night, I had left for the rink at 5:00 and didn't get home until 10:30. Take care, thanks for reading.
