July 9-10

Another round of nasty weather passed through late Wednesday afternoon, on this night the ballgame on North Prince Street fell victim to the steady rain. It was immediately rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Thursday, the first game started at 5:00. The Stormers took a 2-0 lead in the third on a wild pitch and Nick Ward's sacrifice fly but from there Southern Maryland tied it in the fourth and used a four-run sixth to win it 6-2 Recently-signed Luke McCollough (from Villanova University) made his Stormers debut and went five innings, Billy Sullivan was the loser in relief. Game #2 started shortly before 8:00 and this time around the Stormers made short work of the Crabs in a 10-2 victory. An Ariel Sandoval two-run single, Nick Lucky's RBI double and a Danny Amaral sac fly made it 4-0 in the first, single runs scored in the third on an Amaral base hit and in the fifth on a sac fly by Lucky. A four-run sixth put it away with Lucky's second RBI double, a Mason Martin RBI hit, a Nick Ward sac fly and a Blue Crab error accounting for the runs. Max Green went five innings for the win with Jackson Rees and Scott Engler finishing it out of the pen. The ballclub hits the road for the next week, they're back home on Friday the 18th. I myself will also be "on the road", with any good fortune I may be back home by then as well. Take care, thanks for reading.
