Jenny and her mother were in town on Monday for Jenny's surgical procedure, they arrived at the hospital around 7:30. The procedure itself was scheduled for 11:30, at 12:15 Helen called and said that all had gone well. After a stretch in recovery they had Jenny in her room around 2:30 or so, shortly after that Helen called again and I picked her up. We went to a local establishment and had a good substantial supper, then we returned to check in on Jenny. She was half-awake and barely able to keep her eyes open but she knew we were there, later on Helen came to my place and spent the night (since the hospital wouldn't allow her to stay there overnight). We had it all prearranged (after her episode in October of '23 we merely make sure she's not left alone), she slept in the back bedroom and I looked in on her periodically. Helen was awake and up before me on Tuesday morning, shortly before 11:00 we got the word that Jenny was being discharged. We got her home in good order, from here she has another two weeks of liquid diet before she can return to solid food. It's a struggle for her right now but in the long run she'll be better off. SPEAKING OF STRUGGLES: the Royals completed a 1-3-1 road trip with a Wednesday night loss in Norfolk, on Friday evening the Admirals came to Reading for the back end of the home-and home. The roster was fortified with two assignees from the Phantoms, thus far thirteen players on AHL contracts have appeared for the Royals. On this night Norfolk scored the first goal but the Royals replied on scores by Tyler Gratton and Jacques Bouquot to lead 2-1 at the first intermission. The Admirals took a 3-2 advantage into the third period, with three minutes left newcomer Ryan Leibold found the net to tie it 3-3, In overtime the Ads had the last shot and won 4-3, Keith Petruzzelli suffered the loss. This is the Royals' third OT loss with two of them occurring when the club was less than a minute from winning in regulation, the record at home stands at 2-2-2 and overall 6-9-3. The Royals have already played one-third of their road schedule and one-fourth of the overall schedule and it's not even December yet, the club stays home to host Maine on the 23rd. Take care, thanks for reading.
