June 3

Friday night at the ballpark on North Prince Street, the Barnstormers were back from a quick three-game road trip for the opener of a lengthy homestand. The club has twelve straight home dates through June 16, the only off-days being the two Mondays within that span. On this night the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs made the first of their three series visits. The game was 0-0 entering the top of the fourth inning where the Crabs exploded for five runs. In the bottom half the Stormers rallied back with three of their own, Colton Shaver doubled and scored on an RBI single from the recently-returned Trayvon Robinson. A walk to Trace Loehr and a single by newcomer Ed Reichenbach loaded the bases, Anthony Peroni followed with a two-run single bringing the Stormers to within 5-3. The Crabs added on with single runs in each of the next four innings, the Stormers were only able to score twice more on a Kelly Dugan two-run home run in the seventh. The final score was 9-5, losing pitcher Augie Sylk worked into the fifth with support from Donald Goodson plus new additions Erik Cha and Bret Clarke. Got word later in the evening that the Midget League ballgame at McCaskey on Saturday had indeed been postponed, makeup date TBA. Take care, thanks for reading.
