May 11-13
Friday evening baseball west of the Susquehanna River as I made my first visit of the season to PeoplesBank Park in York. The Revolution is in its 12th season as an ALPB member club, several years ago they played their Sunday home games at 5:00 and I regularly attended those. Since the organization switched to a more traditional early afternoon start time on Sundays I get to York whenever I can which is usually when the Barnstormers are on the road. On this night the New Britain Bees were the opponent for the opener of a three-game series and a low-scoring pitchers battle was in store. The Revs took the lead in the second when former Seattle Mariners prospect Wellington Dotel walked and scored on a passed ball, in the third Jared Mitchell drew a walk and scored on Alexi Casilla's RBI sac fly to put the home team up 2-0. The Bees posted a single run in the seventh but could not draw even as the Revolution took it 2-1. Dominic Severino (who pitched for the now-defunct Bridgeport Bluefish in 2017) started for the Revs and went six innings, he was supported by Jacob Ezell, Luke Westphal and Ricardo Gomez with former Atlanta property Junior Rincon working the ninth for the save. The rest of the weekend was quiet except for Saturday lunch with Jenny, all just as well since we had a round of late Saturday-afternoon thunderstorms. Take care, thanks for reading.
