January 22
Thursday night basketball for JPM as we traveled to Lititz for a game with Warwick. Over the years we've enjoyed our share of success, we've also experienced our fair share of adversity and disappointment. Off the top of my head I would be hard-pressed to think of another loss (at least in recent years) more deflating than on this night in Lititz. We lost 44-43, the difference being two Warwick fouls shots made in the final seconds. Taken as just one loss it may not seem like a big deal, it's the way it happened that is upsetting. The club began its league season 3-0, in game #4 we lost to Cedar Crest and fell out of a tie for the division lead. We managed to keep pace and stay one game behind CC until they came to Lancaster, on that night we prevailed and pulled back even. Two nights later in Lititz all that hard work went down the tubes, the loss to Warwick effectively renders the win over CC moot and puts us right back where we were. There are still three games left in the league season and the club is still in a playoff position so it's not the end of the world, it merely means that the road to the postseason just got a lot tougher. The boys finish the non-league portion of the schedule on Saturday, on the 27th and 30th we play at home (Penn Manor and Manheim Township, respectively) before ending the league slate on February 3 at Hempfield. Take care, thanks for reading.
