January 23
According to the Thursday newspaper we got eight inches of snow in the city on Tuesday, the total snowfall for the season is up to thirty inches. Over the next week temperatures are expected to be well below normal. In the morning the access van brought Jenny into town for an appointment, I took her home and we had our usual lunch date. She had another appointment in Willow Street in the afternoon, I dropped her off there and the van took her home later. If it were another day she would have relied on the access van for all the transportation, luckily that wasn't the case here. In the evening we were at McCaskey as the Red Tornado hosted Penn Manor. Thanks to the postponement on Tuesday this was the first of a three-in-three and the second time we've had a stretch like that in three weeks. Earlier in the season we beat PM by nineteen at their place, on this night it was much tougher but the guys got it done 81-69. It was a four-point game into the last quarter before JPM managed to pull away. La'Detrius Sibley led the Red Tornado with 13, Randolph Speller and Antanee Pinkard had 11 each. The win is the club's tenth against six losses and moves the league record to 9-2. The JV game was one for the books, JPM won 79-40 but that was only half the story. By the time it was over a total of forty-eight fouls had been called (in a twenty-eight minute game). The Penn Manor coaches were upset because of the the disparity in fouls (PM was whistled for thirty as opposed to our eighteen), angry words were exchanged between players more than once. The officials were two new faces, to my recollection neither one had worked a McCaskey game previously. Maybe if we're very lucky we won't see them again for a long time. Take care, thanks for reading.
