December 5-7

Jenny was in town on business on Wednesday, we had lunch at the local sub shop. Later in the afternoon it was on to Reading for midweek hockey at the Sovereign Center. On this night the Florida Everblades made their lone appearance of the season, they are one of six clubs on our schedule who are one-and-done (two others will make one visit for back-to-back games). After splitting two on the road last week the Royals got back into the win column with a 4-2 win over the 'Blades. Adam Comrie, David Marshall, Denny Urban and Stanislav Galiev lit the lamp in support of winning goalie Philipp Grubauer. Galiev's third-period clincher was a thing of beauty, the video was featured on several national sports broadcasts. The club's record improves to 14-7-1, the next home game is on Friday the 14th. Little of note on Thursday besides a lunch visit with Jenny in Quarryville. It was raining on Friday morning, the entire day was lousy weather-wise. In the evening I was at the Regency Ice Rink in the western part of the city for a high-school game as Hempfield played Hershey (the high school, not the Bears). Don's son Devyn is in his senior year at Hempfield, on this night he scored the lone goal in an 11-1 loss. Don was telling me about how Hempfield lost a lot to graduation, outside of Devyn and one or two others there isn't much talent on the current squad. They play again on Monday the 10th at the Lancaster Ice Rink (a completely different facility only a few miles away). Take care, thanks for reading.
