July 9

With Jenny at her place in the morning, after lunch she and Helen came back to the city for the afternoon drive to Reading. Earlier this week it appeared that Helen would be roped into babysitting on this day but luckily it didn't happen so she was able to be with her daughter at the game. On this night the R-Phils made it two in a row over Trenton with a tough 6-4 win. The ballclub fell behind early, took the lead, gave it back and eventually rallied for the victory. Derrick Mitchell hit a solo home run, Matt Rizzotti and Stephen Susdorf had RBI doubles. Carlos Rivero and Niuman Romero had run-scoring hits, Tuffy Gosewisch had a sacrifice fly RBI. Joe Savery pitched two innings in relief of Austin Hyatt and picked up the win, Justin Friend worked a scoreless inning for the save. Savery is a former starting pitcher who was being converted into a position player, he has been pitching out of the bullpen in recent weeks and getting good results so perhaps that is where he'll find his niche. Time will tell. The game took over three hours to play, we started at 6:35 and wound down at 9:45. A crowd of better than 8800 in the park for more post-game fireworks but as you might guess we were gone ASAP and PDQ. The series continues on Sunday evening at 6:05, the ladies will be along for that one as well. Take care, thanks for reading.
