February 17-18

Jenny was in Willow Street for an appointment on Thursday morning, we had lunch in Quarryville afterward. Not much else happening until Friday evening when we headed to Neffsville for the League Championship game. After seven straight wins the magic was not there on this night as JPM lost 61-53, it was a two-point game into the last minute before Hempfield pulled away for the win. One gets the idea that if those two teams played each other one hundred times they would each win fifty, it's just that close. On February 9 and 11 it was our night, on February 18 it was theirs. For our kids there is nothing to be ashamed of, the fact that they fought back to win the division and play for the league title is testimony to their heart and desire. Look at it this way: on January 22 everyone figured Hempfield would be in the title game as division champion, at the same time we were 7-8 and being written off by everyone who didn't know better. With league playoffs in the record book the attention now turns to the district tournament, for the third straight year we are involved in a preliminary round game. As the #15 seed we will host Muhlenburg HS (from suburban Reading) on Saturday the 19th at 7:00. That leaves me out of it since the Royals are at home that night not to mention the quick turnaround for a team that has already played three games this week. If the boys can get it done they'll play again on Wednesday the 23rd, a loss will end the season. I guess we'll know soon enough. Take care, thanks for reading.
